Other Opportunities

CodePath.org Advanced Interview Prep

CodePath.org is a non-profit funded by companies like Facebook to help improve diversity in tech by providing semester-long courses.

A major barrier to getting the job you want is the software engineering technical interview. To help students overcome this, we’re introducing a rigorous new 12-week summer course: Advanced Interview Prep.

At the end of the summer, our career team will help as many students get jobs as possible. Most jobs would start June 2019, but many companies also have earlier co-op positions available. Employment isn’t guaranteed, but we’re committed to helping students for as long as it takes to get their first job.

Civic Digital Fellowship

Applications Due: January 9th

The Civic Digital Fellowship is hosted by student-run non-profit Coding it Forward. They are looking for impact-driven software engineers, data scientists, designers, product managers, and data journalists to modernize tech at federal government agencies—including the U.S. Census Bureau, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and U.S. Department of State.

Fellows will spend 10 weeks taking a large-scale, high-impact product from start to finish; last summer, three of our fellows built census.gov/smallbusiness. Fellows will also work closely with professional mentors and visit top civic organizations and technology companies. We also provide a competitive stipend, housing, and a round trip flight to and from Washington, D.C. You can find more information here.

WindAid Volunteer Program

WindAid has had a phenomenal 2017 so far with 86 volunteers from 22 countries installing and maintaining over a dozen wind turbines in northern Peru.

R&D Involvement - We have involved volunteers on all of our standard 4-week turbine construction & installation programs to get involved with design projects such as remote monitors, blade improvements, and tower redesigns.

Community Engagement - Our volunteers have also been able to connect to the communities we work with like never before. They do presentations to schools, families, and universities, analyze the impact of turbines, and assist in servicing and outreach.

Building Skills for the Future - We want to have every volunteer learn as much as they can from their time in Peru with WindAid and have a full and rounded experience. Our volunteers have gone on to work in major corporations, get invited to do graduate studies at prestigious universities, and create connections from around the world in the sustainability sector.

2018 Dates: January 8th – February 2nd, February 12th – March 9th, March 19th – April 13th, April 23rd – May 18th, May 28th – June 22nd, July 2nd – July 27th and many more

The 2018 projects are now open for applicants, with the early months already filling up! We have much more information available on our website, and we are always available to answer any questions for anyone interested in learning more about the volunteering opportunities.
